John Tippets served at the helm of American Airlines Federal Credit Union from 1991 to July 2008. Prior to that, he served on its board of directors for eight years. He was a strong supporter of the Dallas and Fort Worth Chapters of Credit Unions, and also aided in the development of small credit unions.
Like Rogers, Tippets has made profound contributions to the industry, earning him numerous accolades, including a 2008 Lifetime of Service Award from the Dallas/Fort Worth Chapters of Credit Unions and a Leadership Award and recognition for Commitment to Diversity from DFW Airport in 2006. One supporter wrote, “John sets an example for all of us of how we can support and improve the credit union industry.”
