Small Credit Union Development
Small Credit Unions

The Texas Credit Union League defines a small credit union as those with assets of $50M and less. With a large percentage of Texas credit unions designated as small credit unions, the Texas Credit Union League (TCUL) has dedicated many resources to help these credit unions thrive, grow and continue to succeed. By providing targeted education and training, regulatory and compliance assistance, Hot Topic notifications and operational guidance, the Small Credit Union Development department is poised to assist in meeting the needs of all smaller institutions and help them address their unique challenges and opportunities.

The Small CU Development department serves as an ambassador to small credit unions providing:

  • Support to the Small Credit Union Committee
  • A dedicated in-house representative for credit unions $7 million or less
  • Facilitation of statewide workshops catered specifically to small credit unions
  • Assistance to NCUA with annual workshop and clinics for small credit unions
  • Coordination of the exchange of donated equipment, furniture and supplies
  • Management of the "Check-It-Out" Library
  • Delivery of the "Hot Topics" emails to help small credit unions stay informed on compliance and other items important to them.
  • Assistance to new credit unions during the chartering process, through training, and help finding a mentor credit union
