Star Advocate Program

Each year, the TCUL Advocacy Team recognizes those credit unions that have gone ‘above and beyond’ in their support of credit union advocacy. The Star Advocate Program was designed for this purpose.

The Star Advocate Program recognizes the advocacy efforts of Texas credit unions at two levels: Star Advocates and Super Advocates.

STAR ADVOCATE LEVEL

Star Advocates are credit unions that have completed the essential grassroots and PAC activities to help us grow our political influence.  This recognition level is achieved by:

  • Meeting your credit union’s TCUL PAC goal.

  • Signing a Permission Agreement.

  • Identifying a Key Contact in your credit union.

  • Running Project Zip Code on an annual basis.

  • Appointing a Legislative Coordinator (LC) at your credit union. The LC is the person you select to be responsible for coordinating legislative/grassroots activity at the credit union when critical ‘calls to action’ are issued.

  • Responding to at least one regulatory comment call in a calendar year.

SUPER ADVOCATE LEVEL

Super Advocates are credit unions that have excelled in their support of credit union advocacy. A credit union is considered a ‘Super Advocate’ by doing the following:

  • Completing ALL of the Star Advocate initiatives described above.

  • Participating in Payroll Deduction or any form of sustainable giving program (Deduct-A-Buck, recurring credit card contributions) for TCUL PAC.

  • Signing up for the CU: R.O.A.R. program and developing an Advocacy Team to ramp up involvement in grassroots, PAC and meetings with local elected officials.
