For nearly 40 years, Dale Roberts proudly served the members of PrimeWay FCU, including the last 11 years as CEO. He retired from the credit union in 2007; however, when the credit union found itself without a leader, Roberts returned as interim CEO to provide leadership while the credit union searched for a qualified candidate to fill this role.

This 2006 SCMS Alumni of the Year is credited with doubling the asset size of the credit union during his tenure as CEO. Under Roberts’ leadership, PrimeWay FCU became the first credit union in the Houston area to deploy a mobile branch into underserved areas. Roberts was also instrumental in the creation of the Credit Union Acceptance Corporation (CUAC) an indirect lending CUSO. CUAC has allowed many thousands of members to secure the benefits of lower-cost credit union vehicle loans.

Roberts commitment expanded well beyond the walls of PrimeWay FCU. He mentored the Palisades Jamaican CU, served as a sponsor and advisor to the Washington County Community Development FCU, served on TCUL’s board of directors, and is a past committee member of several TCUL committees, including the Force Fund, Committee for Charter Conversion and the Shared Services Advisory Committee. Other organizations to benefit from Roberts’ volunteerism include the Credit Unions for Kids program, Partners for Progress and the Credit Union Managers Association of Southeast Texas.

One supporter wrote, "Dale's vision and passion bring out the best in all of us and will leave a lasting impact on our movement."
