Experience a Credit Union - Collaborative Campaign for Chapters

The "Experience a Texas Credit Union" initiative is the first statewide collaborative effort as recommended by the League's Innovation and Collaboration committee, and is modeled after the very successful Houston Chapter program.

The League has committed to funding the development and hosting of an awareness website for each interested Chapter. These sites are intended to educate consumers on the credit union difference, and help them find a local credit union to join. Each Chapter will have a great deal of latitude in developing the visual and content matter of each website, and the sites host a number of features, including the following:

  • Home page with blog content
  • Information about the credit union difference
  • Credit Union products / services
  • Tell a friend feature
  • Zip code search (helps consumers find a credit union to join)
  • Mobile functionality

To assist chapters as they develop their own website and Experience campaign,  the League has developed the "Experience a Texas Credit Union" Operations Manual.   This manual contains the following:

  • History / Origination of the "Experience" initiative
  • Website development procedural steps
  • Chapter website agreement
  • Marketing tips to enhance websites
  • Chapter grant application to the Texas Credit Union Foundation
  • Chapter Best Practices (this currently includes narrative from the Houston Chapter, but will contain those from other Chapters following their website development and subsequent promotion of the sites)

Please note that although the development of the websites is a critical step, it is important that each Chapter promote / market the website in order to drive consumers to the site and then eventually choose a credit union to join. The best practices section of the Operations Manual will provide insight as to how other chapters successfully do this, and we want you to work closely with each Chapter as they explore marketing initiatives that make sense for their unique market.

For questions on how to start an "Experience" campaign in your chapter, please contact your League Representative or jphelps@tcul.coop.
