2013 Fair Lending Seminars

Is your head spinning from trying to keep up or understand all the changes taking place in the world of compliance? Join the club! Sometimes we just need to get back to the basics. Come spend a day with us to refresh yourself with the Fair Lending rules and the CFPB changes effecting these rules.

This seminar explains the “why” of fair lending and the laws and regulations influencing the treatment of customers, including the Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA and Reg. B), Fair Housing Act, Community Reinvestment Act (CRA and Reg. BB), Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA and Reg. C) and the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA and Reg. V).

Fair lending is going through some major revisions thanks to the watchful eye of our friends at the CFPB. This session presents these changes and more, along with practical discussions on industry and internal process impacts. This is a dynamic session with plenty of opportunity for comparing notes with your peers.

Additional topics covered are:

  • Fair Credit Reporting Act Disclosures—ceiling for allowable charges.

  • Loan Originator Compensation: The CFPB is amending Regulation Z to implement amendments to the Truth in Lending Act. The final rule implements requirements and restricts about loan originator compensations. The final rule revises or gives additional commentary on Regulation Z’s restrictions to loan originator compensation, including restrictions on dual compensation, compensations based on the terms of a transaction and recordkeeping requirements.

  • Home Ownership and Equity Protections Act: Another amendment to Regulation Z expands the types of mortgage loans that are protected by the Home Ownership and Equity Protections Act (HOEPA) of 1994. The rule also enforces requirements for home ownership counseling, including the requirement for consumers to get information about home ownership counseling providers.
