Presenter: Susan Costonis, Compliance Consulting and Training for Financial Institutions
Date: Tuesday, July 24, 2012
Time: 2:00 - 3:30 pm Central

Focus:
You’ve just been promoted to a new position as a Mortgage Lender.  Now what do you do?  If the average 60-page mortgage closing package seems intimidating, then this webinar is for you.  A mortgage lender is responsible for providing accurate disclosures within very specific timeframes.  Understanding why the disclosures are required, who receives them, and what must be included will be presented in this step-by-step session.  Participants will learn the basic requirements for both an initial mortgage and a refinance transaction.  (The speaker will not address state-specific mortgage lending laws.)

What You Will Learn

  • The definition of a “completed” application
  • Common problems with taking applications and collecting monitoring information
  • Mortgage application “early” disclosures: components, who receives them, timing requirements
  • Flood determinations for dwelling-secured collateral:  basic requirements for compliance
  • “Final” disclosures:  compliance requirements in a typical initial mortgage and refinance transaction
  • Understand the funding process.  The rules for rescission for a refinance will be reviewed.

Who Should Sign Up?
This informative session is designed for the new mortgage lender, but will also serve as a review for loan processors and more-experienced lending staff.  The handout materials will include examples of the critical disclosures and can be used as an effective training tool.
